Where are the NIP incidents?
Summer is upon us, time to bare your body to the minimum allowed at the local pool, get some sun, lounge around, and get arrested for breastfeeding. right? Every year, except this year….hmmmm? The comic today is inspired by the absence, and then in case you were missing the NIP incidents of yore, I’m going to rerun some of the classics this week (it will bide me some time while my mother visits ;o)
Have fun by the pool!

Heather

Give us a chance, Heather! World Breastfeeding Week starts on Friday! I’m so pumped for it!
Actually a lady in our playgroup who moved to TX had a NIP incident at the pool this summer but didn’t want to make a big deal of it- she was very flabbergasted.
Happy (early) World Breastfeeding Week!

I think the difference is when you write/drag over the pool manager most of them have now learned to say, “Yes, Ma’am. So sorry Ma’am. It will not happen again!” and discipline the employee or at least send letters to their employees stating something like that. The few incidents I’ve heard of this summer went like that.

Hmmm… I hope it doesn’t mean less women BFing in public!

MilkyMama, I have the same sentiments. I hope mommies haven’t been scared into not nursing in public anymore!

I don’t go to the pool. I don’t like sharing the pool with people I don’t know. Not so comfy with the big chlorine dose either. I use my friend’s pool–they use far less chlorine because it is not a public pool. I know it won’t kill me but I still don’t like it too much.
I will try to be sure to make it out of the neighborhood for BFing week. It is hard to get around with all four these days. This newborn stuff is sort of tiring–how do we forget each time?

I have to laugh- I was just BFing at a pool this afternoon… but it’s our pool, my backyard, so no one was complaining! Except my 3-y-o, who wants to feed the baby herself! No matter how many times I explain to her that her boobies don’t have any milk for the baby yet, she still wants to try! She also BFs her baby doll a lot- and I tell her that when she’s a grown-up girl, she can have a baby and nurse it all she wants.

You’re so lucky to have your own pool!

When we went to Day Out with Thomas last weekend, they had a nursing tent set up!

Becci76- Don’t be too jealous- it’s just a 10′x6′ inflatable, but it makes the aforementioned 3-y-o very, very happy, so we love it. The good thing about it being that small is that, by the late afternoon, the water is nice and toasty!

I love that “Breastfeeding Mother and the Swimming Pool” you re-ran today. I remember that story and it was hilarious yet scary that someone involved actually said that seeing a mother nursing could cause someone to drown. (They would do a double-take and then just - cease floating/swimming and drown.)

Oh, and Wiffersnapper, that is so cute about your daughter wanting to nurse the baby.

It IS already happening this summer…
July 6, 2008 - Guelph, Ontario
” A local mother says it was “humiliating” to be asked by a lifeguard to stop breastfeeding her baby at a public pool last Sunday - even more so when police were called to the scene.”

althought it sucked what happened to her… it is nice to see that the city was all over it and not ok with what happened. they didn’t make some crappy comments about how she should have just left. and it is cool the police were behind her too.

Enjoying grandma?
Can I ask a favor of the Cow Goddess?
If any of the classics you re-run are in any of the books you are selling, please let us know which one. If I ever get the chance to purchase something from you, I will need some help deciding what to get
Thanks.
Oh! Also, while I’m asking favors, if I ever get to be in a comic, I want to be the intelligent donkey goddess.

Get them all! LOL They are the best ever!
I think my personal favorite is her first one as it helped me thru a tough PPD period, it made me laugh.
What is the best thing, is that my kids LOVE all the books. I will not only find my 14 year old dd reading them… but my 10 year old son. Plus the little guys just love to see what we get every day.

Renn: That’s unfortunate, but yeah, I’m glad the situation was corrected in the mother’s favor! Stupid high school boys. It’s funny, because they don’t seem to mind girls showing off more than that mother probably was!! Hopefully that boy learned that breasts aren’t just for him to play with!
