Edwina Froehlich passes away…
Here’s the NY Times Obituary…Edwina Froehlich, 93, La Leche League Pioneer, Is Dead
(thank you Kathleen and Edith W.) Imagine for one second what your life would be like had she and the other founders not started La Leche League. Just imagine! AND you would certainly NOT be sitting there reading my blog, because my blog wouldn’t exist, because I’m one of those lucky souls who counts La Leche League as the reason that they parent like they do. Who knows what I’d be like had the mother to mother support groups not existed, yikes! I just sent a chill down my spine. So spend a moment (breastfeeding;o) and send a note of gratitude out into the universe for those founders! Thank you!!!!
Love,
Heather

I am living proof that the best thing for continuing breastfeeding is woman-to-woman support. If not for my three beloved sister-in-laws (who all breastfed their kids) and their support, I would’ve given up at the first growth spurt. No one warned me that my kid would be trying to feed every hour! But they talked me through it, and we went on to nurse to 13 months.
Here’s to all the women who reach out to support breastfeeding moms!

I am thankful for all those who have breastfed before me and the knowledge they have passed on! I have gotten most of my support online and from books, so I say blessed be those who have shared their support that way as well as those who have supported people in person!

I met Edwina Froehlich and her son Paul at the LLLI convention in Miami Beach, FL many years ago. I was so very thrilled to meet her. My DA and I sat in the lounge and had drinks with them. She was a hoot! She will be missed terribly. Thanks to LLL and the founding mothers I have breastfed all 4 of my daughters and my oldest daughter has now breastfed her 2 children.

Oh my goodness! She will most certainly be missed! I also count LLL as the main reason I’m breastfeeding! I would’ve certainly given up at around 12 weeks if not for them! Thank goodness for the La Leche League Leader’s email that saved my nursing relationship! And my wonderful lactation consultant was an ex-LLL leader, too. I’m so thankful for LLL! And I bet my daughter is, too!
