I got that book for Yule - it's so good! His ideas are great and reading it is a valuable distraction from our own battle with the wretched nits (three girls, all long haired - arghhhh!) At least the baby hasn't caught them yet.

When I was a teenager, I caught lice THREE times. The only thing that got rid of them was dying my hair. Then the third time, I was sick of dying my hair so I shaved it off!

OOH LICE! My son brought them home from school 3 times last year (1st grade) - the teacher said some kids get them easily and he was apparently one of those kids. Oh joy. I want him to have special gifts but "attractive to lice" wasn't one I was hoping for! The only ones in his class who had them were him and the girl with very thick long hair who sat next to him. I thought our lice woes were over but a couple of weeks ago we were going to get his hair trimmed (he's trying to let it get kind of long now but the bangs were in his eyes) and the stylist told me she couldn't cut his hair because he had lice. Oddly, this time all we saw were egg sacks far from the scalp - like they'd hatched already. No live lice, no eggs close to the scalp. No idea who he got it from this time. Ross has his own bed now but it is not unusual for him to be in our bed our one of us in his. Our little one never got them any of the times - I guess that thin baby hair has its advantages - but one time I found one live one on me so I had to treat. DH treated as a precautionary measure a couple of times. Sorry to ramble on but I have never really been able to share this with anyone. Maybe I need to find a lice board so I can discuss it in great detail!

The book sounds interesting. I just checked it out on Amazon and it looks good but getting I don't want to add to my credit card debt to get it. =p

Loving your resolutions. Constant contact is great, except when one of the parties involved gets lice! (I just can't get off that topic.)

Done rambling.

Yay! That sounds really cool (the book, not the illnesses!)
I also bought two books recently and borrowed 2 more...
but first... resolution #1.... homr birth!!!!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIKNyfIiMiw

please share it!!

For Christmas I got my hubby a book called The Green Book and bought myself a book called The Birth House, both of which were the last two on the shelf at Target! In our uppity neighborhood no less...

Also, you can get these Bush's last day countdown tickers for your website, it's awesome. go to bushslastday.com

I am currently finishing up reading Let Them Eat Prozac by David Healy and Dude, Where's My Country by Michael Moore. I highly recommend both.
Now I want to get The Freedom Manifesto! Looks like 2008 predictions might just come true!

my daughter had headlice and we got them by combing with loads of conditioner and tea tree essential oil. comb the hair relentlessly, at least 3 times a day and they'll be gone within a couple of days. the chemical treatments are no good as a)they're really toxic and b) the lice become immune to them. a good nit comb is the nitty gritty www.nittygritty.co.uk, it's stainless steel, has a lifetime guarantee and catches the lice and eggs because each tooth is like a micro corkscrew. also, once you've maintained constant contact by combing your angels' hair (quite a bonding experience in itself, as it's really relaxing because the conditioner means no pain), you can keep the nits at bay by dabbing lavender essential oil behind the ears and at the nape of the neck.
and for anyone in the uk 'the freedom manifesto' was originally published under the title 'how to be free'!

Oh, lice. The memories! I had long, dark, thick hair all during elementary school and had lice twice, and that was in the days when the goop you put on your head a) stank like death and b) had to be left on ALL DAY. It was hideous! I'm itching just thinking about it.
