So MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube have one thing in common…
a zero tolerance to images of babies nursing. For You Tube It’s A Season to Ban . I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s nothing more ridiculous for them to get their metaphorical panties in a wad, but there you have it, the major-player community sites have banned images of babies eating…and I’m gonna go off a bit about it.

Call me hormonal, but I am seething, hopping mad right now!!! I think I am going to write them a nasty letter. And maybe I’ll start reporting every image of a bottle-fed baby, since babies eating is so offensive.
It’s funny, too…last night I had a talk with my two older boys (9 & 5). My 5yo had said “I’m going to back-slap that bee-otch” And I asked him where he heard that. You Tube. Of course. I confronted my 9yo and find the little girl next door (12) was watching it while they were playing with her. So we had to have a talk that while YouTube is good for looking up old clips from the Muppet Show and montages of funny cats, there is a lot of inappropriate material, and the only people they can log on with from now on are mom and dad. It amazes me the stuff they DO allow…I feel really bad about the bf video…THAT was one I had watched many times with my 3yo, who wanted to see the “babies and their mommies AGAIN!!!”

Well, that’s great news, Dawn!
I’ve never seen any of those sites - I get online at work (not wasting my precious home time on the computer plus we have dial-up and it is so slow) and they’re all blocked on our network. But I have a feeling I’m missing about as much as I miss by not watching grown-up television.

On sites that ban breastfeeding videos, I decided to change my icon to a gorilla nursing her infant http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c244/mrsncook/salomegorillaPA_228×390.jpg . I have yet to have a complaint about that.
There’s also the two I found with cartoon mamas that have yet to be considered offensive.

Well my video is still up.. actually all of them are. With millions of videos per day I don’t think they have time to ban all of them, probably just the ones that get reported to them for violations.
I considered writing them to ask them to send me a backup copy but maybe I should just whip out my digital camera and capture them, just in case. I don’t want them to notice my account and ban anything! LOL
Anyway I have no backup copy of mine because my mom’s laptop crashed and I lost the original of Liberate Yourself…

Oh, just saw the reinstatement press release… that is good news. Call me silly for skimming and commenting without reading all the other comments. Oh well, mommy short cuts. Off to stop my 3 year old from grabbing the other boobie while nursing.

Kudos to youtube for releasing their statement apologized for that video being banned and allowing it and many others about breastfeeding.
