The Path to 9/11, ABC, scholastic and Disney

9/11 affected all of us deeply. As a parent I spent weeks, months even terrified that something else would happen. I had nightmares that I was sitting on a Los Angeles hill watching a burning city beneath me, wondering where my husband was…we shared one car at the time. A good friend of mine was telling me the other day what it was like to be in New York on that fateful day, she and others went to a playground and pushed their children on the swings and distracted them to look the other way as they watched the buildings fall…the sky was blue, the clouds and smoke and debris blowing the other direction. Chilling, and still haunting.

The channel ABC is running a movie called The Path to 9/11 on the night of September 10th and 11th commercial-free. I’m asking you and yours to join me in not watching it. To learn more about why, here’s a couple of articles:

A lot of info about the movie and the boycott

If you’d like to go further and actively promote the boycotting of the movie, here’s a couple of addresses to complain to:
abc through thinkprogress
Scholastic customer service

I’m sure there are others…

And finally, what are you going to do to mark the anniversary of this fateful day? Let’s share some ideas…

If you want to hang around the tube these movies would be good:

nineteen eighty four(I haven’t seen this one yet!)
Fahrenheit 911
9/11

Or a neighborhood picnic, spark up the grill, invite up the friends, host a kick the can tournament!

Or a bonfire and drum circle!
Or a bake sale of cookies (send the proceeds to a peace group)

Here’s just a few ideas…maybe you have more!
